This remix chain brings together producers from around the world, each linked by samples as well as membership of the Ninja Tune record label’s online forum.
It’s apt Ninja Tune has inspired remix projects. The label was established by Coldcut, whose reworking of Eric B and Rakim’s ‘Paid In Full’ in 1987 has been described as a “benchmark remix” by The Guardian newspaper.
The first remix chain was started in England with Kelp’s track ‘Oceandrift’ and the remixes that flowed from the ambient composition featured a variety of electronic music genres.
This second chain begins in Australia, with Bassling’s sample of a long stretch of wire being bowed. Just as wires stretch across the planet to connect computers and their operators, these remixes bring together a diverse collection of artists and music. Enjoy!
