This remix chain brings together producers from around the world, each linked by samples as well as membership of the Ninja Tune record label’s online forum.
It’s apt Ninja Tune has inspired remix projects. The label was established by Coldcut, whose reworking of Eric B and Rakim’s ‘Paid In Full’ in 1987 has been described as a “benchmark remix” by The Guardian newspaper.
The first remix chain was started in England with Kelp’s track ‘Oceandrift’ and the remixes that flowed from the ambient composition featured a variety of electronic music genres.
This remix chain begins in England with the initial track provided by Oxynucid.
The sound of Oxynucid has mutated into many different forms over the course of the last two decades. Sometimes ravey, sometimes ambient but always shot through with a signature genetic strand of retro-future melodic sensibility.
Oxynucid has followed an interesting career path through the last 20 years. Since jumping ship from NME indie band hell, through early gigs with live synths and reel-to-reel tape decks, to building a devoted following throughout Europe, Oxynucid has frequently surprised those who've come across him. Recent releases include Mystic & Quantum and Rossz Records, plus collaborations with Mrs Jynx (Planet Mu) and Vertical 67 (Lunar Disko / Acroplane) amongst others, have covered everything from midrange dubstep smashers to vocoder-driven funk.
